Ship 5111 stepped up and took SV Scout across the southern tip of Lake Michigan in an overnight race that did not hold back. We had light and heavy air legs over the 60 mile course, sailing in daylight and dark, under dry skies and wet. All of us adult leaders and scouts learned a lot about the boat, our rigging and sail plans and thanks to our Skipper and the hard work of a few of our seasoned racers we managed to finish strong with a Spinnaker set and letterbox douse just before crossing the finish line.
